Ancient Coinage of Cilicia, Selinus

On the Mediterranean coast between Anamur and Alanya, the town was founded by Selinus in 197 BC. One can still visit the cenotaph of Trajan who died here when returning to Rome after his war against the Parthians. (He was buried in Rome.) Coins often show the city name as Traianus Selinus in his honour.
