Plautilla, AR denarius, Ancient imitation, Unofficial mint in England. 2.65 gr. 19.35mm. Probably AD 202-203. Obv: PLAVTILLA AVGVSTA, draped bust right, hair waved and drawn down on neck. Rev: CONCORDIA AVGG, Concordia standing left, holding patera and sceptre. Ancient imitation of RIC 363b. Cohen 1; BMC 411; Sear 7065. Although the weight is slightly less than official issues and the size a tad larger, the clues to its unofficial source can be found in details such as the nose, drapery and general "look" of Plautilla's face, as well as the immature rendering of Concordia's dress, patera and headwear. Found in England by a metal detectorist, November 2014. With permission of TimeLine Auctions (www.timelineauctions.com), December, 2014
