The sons of Germanicus and Agrippina were adopted by Tiberius as his heirs.
The ambitious Praetorian Prefect Sejanus was able to arrange to have both
executed for treason. Their brother Caligula survived Sejanus to become
heir, then emperor. Caligula commissioned statues of his dead brothers. The
construction of these statues was supervised by his uncle 
Claudius, his colleague in the consulship.
