Elagabalus, AE28 of Sidon, Phoenicia. IMP CAESAR M A ANTONIN, Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. COL AVR PIA METRO SID, Baetyl or amphora, with winged handles and on a dais with two sphinxes to left and right. Unpublished reverse type. Rouvier 1518-1522 var (modius on reverse). Collectors number DL25519 The reverse of this coin appears to be of an unpublished type, without corollary amongst coins struck under any emperor. It reminds one of the vase and sphinxes types of Aradus, though it has a uniquely styled vase, with a large round body and thick neck, and with handles in the form of sphinxs' wings.
