An AR tetradrachm of Caracalla (AD 193-211), struck at Antioch or a
moving military mint during c. AD 215-217.

Condition: VF.

Obv. Laureate head of Caracalla right.

Rev. Eagle standing, head right, with star above crescent between
legs.

This issue is generally attributed to Antioch, but it has little in
common with the earlier tetradrachms of Caracalla struck at Antioch
or those struck by his successor, Macrinus, at that mint. It is
equally or more likely that it was struck at a moving military mint
which accompanied the troops who were on campaign in the East at this
time.
