Alexander III, AR tetradrachm, possibly imitation. 16.32 g. Obv: Head of Herakles right with exaggerated hair curls. The dots around the edge appear to have been produced post-strike by hammering onto a narrow tube around the edge. Rev: ALEXANDROY to right of Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre. Wreath in left field, non-existent letter or symbol ">" beneath the chair. Reverse slightly double-struck. Not in Price. Baldwins suggests that it was struck in an "Uncertain Eastern mint" although no similar obverse can be found in Price or any of a number of hoard lists.
