Time of Alyattes; c. 610-546 BC. EL Hekte, 2.37g. Weidauer 100-1 (same dies); Boston-1771 (same dies). Lion's head r., WALWET retrograde downward on r., nose of second lion to r. Double incuse square. Though this coin is rather worn, it is unusual in that the muzzle of the second lion shows clearly in between the rather weakened inscription. Harlan J.
