Hyrkanis, Lydia, AE22, semi-autonomous. 244-249. Magistrate Au. Hermogenos. 6.82g. IERA CYNKLHTOC, laureate, draped bust of the Senate right. EP CTRA ERMOGENOYC YRKANWN (CTR is in monogram form), Asklepios standing front, head left, leaning on serpent-entwined staff. Waddington 5040; Paris 555; Kraft pl. 10, 75b. Courtesy of Gorny & Mosch and coinarchives.com, March 2011. Note: Babelon, describing the Waddington collection, and Kraft give the reverse legend of this coin as beginning with EP C A. I have seen the Waddington coin and the T within the C and the R (="P") formed by the T's crossbar are only slightly visible. This present coin is a reverse die match for the Paris (Waddington) coin and the Kraft coin, but the CTR is much clearer. Waddington and Kraft therefore need to be corrected.
