Poseidonia (as Paestum), Lucania. 90-50 BC. AE Quadrans 15mm; 2.8g. Obv: MINEI(A dot M dot F), head of Mineia right Rev: P-S; S-C across fields, two storey building. Crawford 38c; SNG ANS 804; SNG Cop 1373; McClean 1153; SNG München 1144. The issue of this unusual and very scarce coin was either directly or indirectly sponsored by Mineia. Mineia was known as a rich and generous lady. One can presume that the building on the reverse of the coin depicts a building which she donated to the town.
