Hyrcanus II was part of a large issue of coins that were overstruck on coins of Alexander Jannaeus, the overstrike was so consistent it is believed that it actually occurred in the mint before the coins were released. Hyrcanus II, 67 and 63-40 BC, prutah of 15.8 mm, 1.90 grams. Obverse: Ancient Hebrew in a wreath, overstruck on the anchor in a circle from earlier coin, which is CLEARLY VISIBLE. Reverse: Double cornucopias struck upon lily with Hebrew inscription of earlier coin, both the lily and part of hebrew inscription are clearly visible. Reference: Hendin 478.
