BAKTRIA. Pre-Seleukid Period. Sophytes. Circa 
325-300 BC. AR Diobol (10mm, 0.78 gm). Head of 
Athena right, wearing Corinthian helmet / Cock 
standing right, caduceus to left. SNG ANS 27; 
MIG 31. VF, lightly porous. Rare. ($200)
Although a bit light compared with the diobol in 
ANS (at 1.10 gm), this coin has the same flan 
size, and shows evidence of metal flaking on the 
obverse. This could account for the lower 
weight.
