Justinian II. (first reign, 685-695 AD). Gold solidus (4.45 gm). 
Constantinople, ca. 685-687 AD. IUSTINIA—NUS PE AV, facing bust, 
beardless and with small face, wearing crown ornamented with cross 
and chlamys and holding cross on globe / VICTORIA— AVGU, followed 
by uncertain officina letter, cross potent on three steps, CONOB in 
exergue. DO 1. MIB 1. Sear 1242. The rare and very distinctive 
earliest portrait of the reign. Area of flatness in the lower 
portion of the obverse, otherwise mint state.
