The civil servant Artemius, who was elevated to the throne after the downfall of Philippicus, took the name of Anastasius, after the earlier emperor, also formerly a civil servant. Anastasius II ruled from June 713 until Summer 715 and used his original name ARTEMIVS on many of his coins.
