__________________________________________________________ Justin I 518-527 AD AE Pentanummi (2.07 gm) Antioch Mint Obv. Bust of Justin I right Rev: Tyche of Antioch seated left in shrine (the curved line) DO 57 Justin I, AD 518-527, AE pentanummium (2.07g), Antioch. Obv: Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev: Tyche of Antioch seated l, inverted E. DO 57. F+. This miserable little bronze is culturally significant in that it is the last coin issued by the Romans bearing a classical pagan theme - AntiochÌs famous shrine to her Tyche. This shrine appeared on tetradrachms of Tigranes II some 600 years before and later under the Roman emperors, most notably Augustus and Decius. 1,100 years of overt numismatic Hellenism stopped here.
