Description [Take me to the Barry & Darling Home Page] [Image] B&D Home [Image] Marketplace Republic Livineia 11 Denarius Collectors Information Attribution: Contact Us Moneyer L. Livineius Regulus (Livineia 11) - minted ca. 42 BC Obverse : Online Small head of praetor L. Livineius Regulus. No inscription. Ancient Coin Dealers Reverse : since 1997. "L. LIVINEIVS" above a curule chair between 6 fasces, "REGVLVS" in exergue. Grade : aF/aF - reverse slightly off-center, spotty toning on obverse. Notes : A curious and interesting coin, mostly because of the total lack of inscription on the obverse with such a small portrait and broad flan. We do not know for sure who is portrayed on the obverse, but the assumption is the father of the moneyer who was formerly a praetor. At the tikme of the issue, the monyer was appointed praefectus urbis by Caesar, an event that was celebrated by games and apparently this issue. This coin has a decent obverse and pretty good reverse despite being off center. It would make an interesting addition to any collection. GOOD LUCK! Click here to view our other auction listings.
