                                Description

     This piece was minted circa 225-212 BC, under the authority of a
     moneyer whose identity has been lost to history. The obverse
     depicts the laureate head of Janus. The reverse type features
     Jupiter holding sceptre and hurling a thunderbolt from a quadriga
     driven by Victory, with ROMA raised on outlined tablet below.
     Coin is struck on a smallish thick flan, and shows some striking
     weakness, but otherwise grades a nice VF, with bold devices and
     legends where struck up. A nice example of this scarce Roman
     Republican silver type, catalouged as RSC-24. All coins
     guaranteed genuine without limitations. Buyer pays
     postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA
