Severus Alexander, AR denarius. Antioch. IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. SALVS PVBLICA , Salus seated left, elbow resting on chair arm, holding out a patera to feed a serpent rising from altar. RIC 298 var. Contributed by Bill Welch, August 2009 From a Severus Alexander collector: "Obviously from Antioch, not Rome. The uneven lettering is a clue it is from Antioch. The coin is a variety of RIC 298 – which has a different obverse legend."
