Zeus standing facing, head left, holding thunderbolt. The coin is light brown, with a few light scratches. However, the images are unaffected, and they are pleasing, with good detail. The legends are virtually full, but some letters on the reverse are partilly cut off by the flan. Septimius Severus was descended from the Punic inhabitants of Carthage, which had tried to destroy Rome during the days of the Republic.
