Description Classical Cash and Henri Delger's Old Roman Coins for Special Collectors present: [Look at THIS!] [Look at THIS!] HD: Young Nero, gold aureus, gVF, toned Nero, AV aureus, (7.64g) Lugdunum Mint, NERO CAESAR AVG IMP Bare head right / PONTIF MAX TR P VI COS III P P Wreath containing EX S C. Good VF, attractively centered, with reddish tone characteristic of the Bosco Real hoard. An attractive aureus from the last issue before the weight-standard reduction, and subsequent melting of earlier aureii. The reddish toning around the devices and legends is typical of coins identified as from the Bosco Real hoard. This hoard of aureii, and silver plate, was found in the 18th century in a villa buried by the eruption of 79 AD. The hot gasses of the eruption left the hoard with an unusual reddish tone. The silver plate can be seen in the Louvre. PLEASE CLICK HERE to see ALL the wonderful items in this week's sale! CLICK HERE to go to OldRomanCoins.com for coins, antiquities, and books!
