Licinius I, Siscia. Follis. 320 AD. IMP LI-CINIVS AVG, helmeted, cuirassed bust right VIRTVS-EXERCIT, Standard inscribed VOT / XX in two lines standing on ground, captive seated on either side. S-F across fields. Mintmark dot Epsilon SIS dot RIC VII Siscia 119, rated R5 Although the lines of the helmet crest makes this looks like the coin is an ancient imitation, they are identical to those on the single example found in RIC on plate 13 in RIC VII. The lettering, faces and positions of captives, relative position of the mintmark to the main image etc. are all identical and appear to be from the same dies as the plate coin. It is the only one with this mintmark (as opposed to Siscia 110 with over a dozen variations), from one single officina and the details all correspond. It is an extremely rare coin.
