Countermark: Triangle, within which D , within which dot (on neck). Rev: CELEUKEW N ( TWPPOCTWK ), ALV , KAD , NW in two lines. Athena standing left, holding Nike in right hand and resting left hand on shield, behind which rises a spear. Ref: BMC 37; Howgego 670. Grade: VG/VG-Fine, dark brown patina. Countermark Fine. Die Axis: 180°. Weight: 19.13 g. Most coins from Gordian III carry the same countermark, which can hardly have served as a denominational mark judging from the range in size and weight of coins on which it can be found.
