#20 Thracia, Augusta Traiana, Geta not recorded Geta AD 209-211 AE 30, 16.5g obv. AVT KP CEPT - IMOC GETAC bust, radiate, cuirassed seen from behind, r. rev. AVGOVSTHC - TRAIANHC Snake in four elaborate coils highly erected r., nimbate and radiate not in Varbanov about EF, brown patina The revers seems to show Glykon, the snake-god, invented by the Greek prophet Alexander of Abonouteichos in the mid-second century. This is, at least, what we can deduce from the writings by the Greek author Lucian of Samosata (c.120-c.190), who devoted an extremely hostile (and extremely amusing) pamphlet to the charlatan he called Alexander the oracle monger.
