Description Galba, Oct.-Nov., 68 (emperor Apr.,68-Jan.,69), AR Denarius (17x18mm) (3.17 grams), New Sear 2108, RSC 238, RIC 211 (Rare), F+/aVF. Obv. IMP SER GALBA CAESAR AVG, laureate bust right. Rev. SALVS GEN HVMANI, woman standing left, foot on globe, holding rudder and scrificing over altar. The coin is lightly toned, darker in some areas, with a touch of porosity on the reverse. Legends are nearly full, with some letters on the obverse partially off the flan, and some letters on the reverse are weak. The reverse image shows good detail and the portrait is fairly nice, showing Galba's jutting chin. Galba seized power during a revolt against Nero, and became emperor when Nero committed suicide. Galba received the support of Otho, but when he failed to name Otho as his successor, Otho revolted and Galba was assassinated by the praetorians.
