Description This piece was minted at Aquileia in the name of Decentius, who served as Caesar under his brother Magnentius between 351 and 353 AD. On receiving the news of his brother's suicide, Decentius also took his own life, on August 18, 353 AD. The obverse of this type depicts the bare-headed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Decentius facing right, with legends D.N.DECENTIVS.FORT.CAES, and the letter A behind the bust. The reverse features two victories holding a shield inscribed VOT.V.MVLT.X. The legends VICTORIAE.DD.NN.AVG.ET.CAES. appear around the Victories, with the mint/oficina mark AQS in the exergue. Coin shows a little reverse striking weakness, but otherwise grades VF/AVF, with clear to bold legends and devices where struck up, and is struck on a nice full size flan. A pleasing example of the bronze coinage of this scarcer Caesar! All coins guaranteed genuine without limitations. Buyer pays postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA residents please add appropriate sales tax. MC/Visa accepted for purchases of $20 or more. Member ANA, PAN.
