The reign of Antoninus is a virtual blank in the history books, owing to the stability and prosperity that Rome enjoyed during these years. He was the personification of Rome's golden age, which reached its zenith under his rule. The obverse of this type depicts the laureate head of Antoninus facing right, with legends ANTONINVS.AVG.PIVS.P.P. The reverse type features Italia, towered, seated left on globe, holding cornucopiae and sceptre, with legends TR.POT.COS.III. around, and ITALIA below. Coin shows some very light granularity, but otherwise grades AVF, with clear devices and legends. A nice example of this scarcer geographic type, catalogued as RSC-467.
