Description Classical Cash and Henri Delger's Old Roman Coins for Special Collectors present: [Look at THIS!] [Look at THIS!] HD: MARC ANTONY'S WIFE -- Octavia as Concord Octavia, sister of Octavian and wife of Marc Antony, 39 BC, AR quinarius, (1.60g) III VIR R P C Veiled and diademed head of Octavia as Concord right / M ANTON C CAESAR Clasped hands holding caduceus. C(Antony & Octavian) 529/4b, C(Antony)67, S1195. Toned F-VF/F, two obverse banker's marks on veil. Crawford notes, ''The issue should be regarded as marking the reconciliation between Octavian and M. Antonius which took place at Brundisum late in 40.'' In our opinion, the features of Concord closely resemble those of Octavia on aureii and cistophorii, issued during the same period. The quinarius was used a few years earlier to portray Fulvia. Octavia brought Concord to the divided Empire, if only for a short time. An important propaganda piece not previously attributed to Octavia. PLEASE CLICK HERE to see ALL the wonderful items in this week's sale!
