ALEXANDROY, Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and sceptre. Gamma in left field, A beneath chair. Price 3303; Hersh Addit. 68 corr..; Duyrat Arados I, 10. With permission of Savoca Numismatik Special Auction 79, Lot 42, June 2020. Note - Lloyd Taylor in "A correction to one of Hersh’s additions to Price’s Alexander typology: Price 3303 Arados not Price 2993A Tarsos" (JNAA 31, 2021-2022) convincingly shows that this coin is from Arados, not Tarsos. In his article he writes, "Compounding this attribution error, some in the numismatic trade now reattribute Price 3303 to Tarsos as a "correction" to Price’s attribution. Thus, an erroneous addition to Price’s typology is at risk of becoming an erroneous reattribution. Such a reattribution in the absence of supporting evidence has the potential to compromise our understanding of the history of the mint at Arados." Price_3303.txt
